This webpage is a work in progress. MySwapsCollection.com is one of the first websites Killian made. Seems like a good place to put memories of him. Some of the ads are still active. I have not bothered yet to figured out how to shut them off, so ads will be popping up here and there, getting in the way, just as Killian had intended.

James W. Shirley Funeral Home has a Tribute Wall for Killian.

There is a separate page for Killian’s mental health story.

Todd is with Killian now. July 7, 1969 – January 9, 2025 Shirley’s Funeral Home

Killian was not very happy with the idea of going to kindergarten. He did not like change in his routine and that was a BIG change. The teacher did a great job and his attitude changed in one day. He ran off the bus with a huge smile.

Killian for the most part enjoyed going to school and learning. Always an early riser. He rarely missed a day. I’d have to check the report cards, but I don’t think he missed a day of high school. If he was interested in something, he put in the effort.

Killian’s school project for The Iliad was a boat made out of popsicle sticks, covered with cloth and Mod Podge. Painted it and made little people with clay. He could have gone the easy route and colored in a coloring sheet. He was very proud when he told us the teacher asked to keep it as a classroom prop.

Killian took one of his busted old planes and built a remote controlled boat. The boat was built with Styrofoam that was then shelled out with fiberglass. Then sanded and painted. Weights were added where needed.

April 2010

Summer 2010, Killian had finished 10th grade at Norwin High School and his first year at Central Westmoreland Careers and Technology Center studying computer science. He was 16 years old. Killian decided he was going to make money on the internet. MySwapsCollection.com was his first success. He made some pocket money every month or so on google ads.

I recently found a forum Killian participated in when he was 16. It is on blackhatworld.com and he was looking to improve the google ranking for his website.

2010 was also the year Killian started taking one computer class per semester at Westmoreland County Community College, got a job at Kentucky Fried Chicken, and got his drivers license.

In 2012 Pinterest.com went public and the visits to MySwapsCollection.com slowed down. The site was no longer making money and Killian had moved on. He was making money promoting search engine optimization. He was selling content for other websites. The website he developed for that enterprise is prbandit.com. Killian would work with his client to find what their website was about and develop a list of keywords, pay someone online to write paragraphs of content, run said text through another program to make new paragraphs, then sent hundreds of articles back onto the web. Or at least that is my understanding. Google ads banned him for a while. I vaguely remember something about him taking advantage of their free promotions somehow. Killian was also selling scripts, mini programs, to other web developers and eventually freelancing as a PHP developer for oDesk, an online job platform.
